Daniel Forsythe - Operations Director

(Cisco Certified Design Associate, Microsoft Certified Professional, Diploma of Information Technology).

We won’t tell you how long ago, but Daniel first got into Apple and Commodore computer systems, programmed in Basic, when he was just 10 years old. By 14 he was running DOS – which he learned by trial and error. By 15 he’d pulled apart and reassembled a hand-me-down computer, as well as teaching himself Windows 3.1 and DOS 5. By 17 he’d bought his first ‘decent’ computer, and was soon repairing faulty PCs and laptops then selling them for a profit. Within another year, he’d completed a Level 4 IT Diploma and then began working at The Missing Link from its inception. Daniel has accomplished some major achievements since then: project managing Warringah Council’s first private fibre-optic network (through 800m of nature strips); implementing the back-end communications infrastructure for Commonwealth Securities; and implementing the first production Microsoft Small Business Server installation (prior to official release), to name just a few. You might say computing is in Daniel’s system. In fact, it can be hard to tell where Daniel stops and the computer starts…

Alex Gambotto - Managing Director

(Microsoft Certified Professional, Cisco Sales Expert, Bachelor of Economics/Accounting).

As much as Daniel ‘speaks’ computer, Alex is fluent in business. Even when he was 9, he was getting paid for his household chores and with BHP shares! (He guarantees that they had the cleanest back yard in Sydney.) At boarding school, he made extra money purchasing Chinotto drinks by the case then selling them to fellow students as singles. Alex set up his own café in Chatswood, creating a vibrant and thriving business out of an empty retail space. However, he realised that his special combination of business and customer service skills could do more than create the perfect cup of coffee. Always interested in computers, Alex earned reseller accreditations with both Microsoft and Cisco, and joined The Missing Link in 1999. There, he found his forte. Alex brings a rare ability to hear, understand and then meet the business needs of clients – something that is extremely hard to find in IT. He can recognise IT issues in terms of business needs, rather than just network hardware. This ability helps him to design solutions rather than simply provide technology – and Alex’s approach is central to The Missing Link’s client service ethic.  From the client’s perspective his practical diverse sales and business background gives Alex an innate ability to understand the needs of The Missing Link’s clients – that crucial listening phase that precedes any implementation and underpins our client service ethic.

By 1999, both Daniel and Alex were working at The Missing Link. They rapidly developed their separate departments and were promoted accordingly as the company grew. Giving Daniel and Alex the perfect opportunity to undertake a management buyout - creating The Missing Link Network Integration as it exists today. Under their direct leadership, the business has more than doubled in size and revenue – and continues to grow strongly.

Both Daniel and Alex are members of the exclusive Young Entrepreneurs Organisation.
